Rockstar Games's latest update for Grand Theft Auto: Online has arrived for Xbox One, PS4 and PC players. Titled Deadline, the new Tron-styled addition allows players to live out any neon-coated sci-fi dreams they may have and battle others to the death while riding day-glo motorbikes.
While GTA: Online has its fair share of motorcycles already thanks to several biker-themed content drops, Deadline brings an all-new "auto-show concept" ride to Los Santos's streets – the Nagasaki Shotaro Light Bike.
In true Tron fashion, the Shotaro leaves a trail of fluorescent light in its wake, with Rockstar promising "a driving experience that is out of this world."
The Shotaro features in the updates' biggest addition - the new Deadline Adversary mode. The four-player mode drops riders into an "electronic arena" that plays host to large-scale recreations of Tron's signature bike battles.
"Deadline pits up to four players against another, each mounted on a different colored Shotaro, which emits a temporary light trail as you ride through the arena," stated Rockstar in the blurb for the update's official trailer (embedded below).
"Any competitor unfortunate enough to come in contact with said trail meets an instant explosion. Make calculated movements to force opponents to cross your trail's path and take advantage of strategic power-ups for a competitive edge; use Boost to speed ahead and cut off your opponents, slow down time with Zoned for precision movement, or leap your opponent's light trail with Hop."
Those looking to cruise the streets in a Shotaro can grab it from GTA: Online's luxury sports car retailer Legendary Motorsport after taking part in a single Deadline death-match. In addition, for a "limited time", a free Nagasaki logo T-shirt added to the player's wardrobe for good measure.
Until 21 November, Deadline competitors can earn double in-game currency and Reputation Points (RP), while those with Biker Businesses save 25% off supplies and resupplies. The following weapons and vehicles are also discounted for the duration of launch event:
