High Potential Season 2 Halts: Everything You Need to Know About It, From Comeback Date to the Reason for Break
ABC pauses High Potential Season 2, leaving Morgan and Karadec off duty for now

The LAPD's brainy consultant Morgan Gillory, Detective Adam Karadec, and the rest of the Major Crimes Division will not be solving crimes for the meantime. Fans of High Potential will have to wait a little longer, as Season 2 has entered a mid-season hiatus. No, they're not cancelled; they're only taking a few weeks off this February.
High Potential, a crime drama series, follows Morgan Gillory, played by Kaitlin Olson, a cleaner and a single mom of three, with a High Intellectual Potential or HPI and an IQ of 160. She has turned into a civilian consultant solving mysteries and murders at the Los Angeles Police Department Major Crimes Division in her free time.
As she solves more crimes with the team, Morgan develops a close relationship with them, including Detective Adam Karadec, played by Daniel Sunjata. Alongside her consulting work, she has another mission: to uncover the truth about the disappearance of her eldest child's father.
Why is High Potential Season 2 on Hiatus?
ABC has not officially released any statement explaining the series's sudden break, but according to Cinema Blend, one possible reason for it is that the network wants to avoid clashing with major live broadcasts, including NBC's coverage of the Super Bowl and the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
Furthermore, on 24 February 2026, possible reruns will be pre-empted as US President Donald Trump delivers his first State of the Union address of his current term. High Potential will not be the only series taking the night off, as the White House feed is set to air across all major broadcast networks.
When is High Potential Season 2 Coming Back?
The next time that fans can witness Morgan, Detective Karadec, and the whole team solving a murder will be on Tuesday, 3 March 2026. ABC will broadcast the episode at 10 pm ET and 7 pm PT.
Unlike the first season of the show, which ended at 13 episodes, Season 2 has been extended to 18 episodes. ABC plans a double-repeat block, with the midseason finale and premiere airing back-to-back.
Where to Watch and What to Expect in Episode 13
Episode 12, The Faust and the Furious, left viewers with unresolved threads. It follows an emotional storyline in which Detective Oz discovered that his late father's headstone was never ordered and the money that was set aside for it had inexplicably vanished. Meanwhile Morgan and the LAPD investigate the mysterious murder of a tech founder obsessed with life extension.
Episode 13, In the Driver's Seat, is expected to continue these arcs, while also exploring the emotional fallout between Karadec and Morgan. The two share an intimate moment when Morgan suffers a panic attack and their relationship is set to deepen. The next episode will likely build on this tension, especially the circumstances surrounding Karadec's personal situation, Lucia's evolving role in his life, and possibly to Morgan's.
For those unable to catch the live broadcast on ABC, episodes stream on Hulu the following day and are also available on Disney+. This ensures fans outside the US or those preferring on-demand viewing won't miss a beat.
