Hilary Swank Reveals Third Pregnancy at 52 With 'Next Project' Announcement: 'This One Releases in December'
The Oscar-winning actress revealed the news with husband Philip Schneider and their three-year-old twins, Aya and Ohm

Hilary Swank has revealed she is expecting her third child at 52, using a playful family video to announce the news. She jokingly described the pregnancy as her next 'project' and hinted the baby is due in December.
The two-time Oscar winner posted the clip on Instagram on Wednesday, 14 October, alongside her husband, Philip Schneider, and their three-year-old twins, Aya and Ohm. The family danced in the dark with glow sticks attached to their bodies before Swank revealed a glowing baby figure on her stomach.
Hilary Swank Announces 'Next Project'
Rather than sharing a conventional pregnancy photo, Swank turned the announcement into a family performance. Schneider and the twins danced as glow-in-the-dark stick figures before Swank joined them and revealed the glowing baby figure.
'A lot of people have been asking what project I'm doing next, this one releases in December,' Swank captioned the video. The post did not explicitly state a due date, but the December reference appears to indicate when she expects to give birth.
The news comes around three years after Swank became a mother for the first time, when she and Schneider welcomed twins.
Swank and Schneider's Family Grows
Swank and Schneider welcomed Aya and Ohm in April 2023. She first announced that she was expecting twins during an October 2022 appearance on Good Morning America. 'I'm going to be a mom, and not just of one, but of two,' Swank said at the time.
The actress later described the arrival of her twins as challenging but deeply rewarding, writing after their birth: 'It wasn't easy. But boy (and girl!) was it worth it.'
Swank and Schneider have generally kept their children out of the spotlight. However, the actress has spoken openly about how becoming a mother later in life has shaped her approach to parenting.
Hilary Swank on Becoming a Mother Later in Life
In an interview with PEOPLE, Swank said becoming a mother later in life has allowed her to be more present with her children, partly because her acting career was already established. 'I knew I wanted kids someday, but I wasn't planning what that would look like,' she said.
Swank explained that having children in her 20s or 30s could have made her a different parent, as her career would have competed more directly for her attention. 'I know it's so different for everyone, but for me, if I had had a kid in my 20s or my 30s, I think I'd be a much different parent than I am now,' she said.
She added that being further into her career has given her the flexibility to spend more time with her children, describing that freedom as 'such a blessing'. Swank also said she has 'much more patience and bandwidth' as an older mother and had spent years working on herself before becoming a parent.
'I've done a lot of work on myself,' she said, explaining that the experience helped her break cycles she did not want to pass on to her children. Swank also said her children have taught her to stay present and appreciate the moment.
Swank has continued working while raising her children, with credits including Alaska Daily, Away and Yellowjackets. She has also won Academy Awards for Boys Don't Cry and Million Dollar Baby.
