The Chinese jailbreak team, TaiG, has released an untethered jailbreak for Apple's latest iOS 8 iteration, iOS 8.1.1.

The TaiG jailbreak version 1.0.1 works with the iOS 8.0. iOS 8.1 and iOS 8.2 beta running on supported iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch models. The initial release is for the Windows version only.

For those who are using Mac, there is method available using which you can run Windows on your Mac via a free virtual machine and then install the TaiG jailbreak.

Points to remember

  • Before following the jailbreak method, back up your iOS devices using iCloud or iTunes.
  • Currently TaiG jailbreak is available for Windows only.
  • Disable anti-virus programme or firewalls, which could be an obstacle for TaiG to connect to the internet.
  • Your iOS device should have above 80% charge.

How to jailbreak untether iOS 8.1.1 using TaiG on Mac OS X

Step-1: First download Windows 10 Technical Preview and install it on Mac through Parallels Desktop. It is easier for users to get the aforementioned software as they are available for free.
