Vicky Pattison has been crowned Queen of the Jungle. The Geordie Shore star was named the winner of I'm A Celebrity after surviving three weeks of gruelling bush tucker trials and facing all manner of critters in the Australian outback for three weeks.

After TOWIE star Ferne McCann was evicted in a dramatic Sunday finale, Vicky was left to fight it out with runner-up George Shelley. The 28-year-old could not contain her excitement when she was announced the Queen, and proceeded to race around hugging all her fellow campmates who were gathered together again for the final time on the show.

Asked by the Geordie hosts how she felt on winning she said: "It doesn't sound right. I think you've made a mistake." Presented with her sceptre and crown by last year's winner Carl Fogarty, struggling to speak as she fought back tears, she said: "I can't thank everyone who voted for us enough. I don't even think I deserve it. I love you all. I'm going to have to pay my Mum and my friends phone bills after this," she joked.

Earlier she had expressed her surprise at being in the final. Speaking to the jungle's confessional camera she said: "I haven't always done the right thing ... but with people keeping us in here, I think it shows I'm not such a bad person."

Vicky and Fearne were last minute entrants to the camp along with Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews, who left the show abruptly following health concerns. And while it was thought the pair might be a source of friction, the two became best friends. Vicky had the public won over at the outset with her down-to-earth, no nonsense attitude and the gutsy way she took on the trials.

As well as being the camp's resident jungle Jane, she was unofficial peacemaker as rows erupted between campmates Lady C and Tony Hadley and Vicky was applauded for being the voice of reason. Runner-up, Union J's George Shelly, was happy with the outcome as he found himself in the final with "his two best friends." He described the experience as the "most incredible journey".

And while they were the last three in the camp, their final 24-hours in the jungle, still meant there were some jungle nasties in store as they faced one last Bushtucker Trial. With each competing for one part of a luxury final night meal, they were determined to win the last stars for their campmates. Vicky completed her Surf and Turf challenge to win starters for the camp in record time, plunging into a water tank filled with spiders, pythons, eels, yabbies and mud crabs to retrieve the stars.

Fearne faced the dreaded Bushtucker Bonanza, where she devoured a live witchetty grub, lambs brains, a live water spider and a bull's penis, while Ant and Dec watched on in disbelief. "I can't believe I'm eating the end of a bull's penis. I feel as sick as a pig, however bad that looked, double it, triple it," she said.

After successfully completing the main course trial, it was up to George to win their desserts. The singer faced an avalanche of bugs as he had the biggest number of critters in the series, poured over him as he lay in a perspex box grappling for stars.

Some of the youngest members in the camp, the trio were praised by their campmates for their conduct, particularly since it was thought that Vicky and Fearne would be odds over a former love rival. In fact, it was the elder members of the camp that were the cause of the conflict and Lady C in particular, who was at the centre of the rows in some of the most tempestuous showdowns on TV.

While Vicky was indeed the Queen of the jungle, the three finalists were all winners, as they each came out of the competition having conquered their fears and with the added bonus of two new best friends.
