R&B Singer Jacquees Allegedly Punched Officer During DUI Arrest After Being Found Asleep in Jeep

R&B singer Jacquees allegedly punched a police officer during a DUI arrest in Florida after first responders found him asleep inside a Jeep and struggled to wake him, according to an arrest report.

The 32-year-old singer, whose real name is Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax, was arrested in Hollywood, Broward County, on Sunday, 27 September. He was booked on charges of driving under the influence, resisting an officer without violence and battery on an officer, firefighter or emergency medical technician.

But Jacquees disputed the battery allegation after leaving jail, challenging authorities to produce video of the encounter.

Jacquees Found Asleep Inside Jeep Before DUI Arrest

Hollywood Police officers responded to the area of North 62nd Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard after receiving a report of a man passed out inside a vehicle.

According to the arrest report, officers found Jacquees sleeping inside a Jeep Gladiator and made several attempts to wake him by tapping on the vehicle's window.

Firefighters also reportedly shook the Jeep in an effort to rouse the singer, but he remained asleep.

First responders eventually used a window punch to gain access to the vehicle. The report said Jacquees still did not wake up, prompting emergency personnel to place him on a stretcher and move him into a fire rescue truck.

An officer reported smelling alcohol coming from Jacquees after he was removed from the Jeep.

Police Say Jacquees Punched Officer's Arm

The encounter allegedly escalated after Jacquees was placed inside the rescue vehicle.

According to the arrest report, a firefighter alerted police that the singer had become 'combative' and was attempting to get out of the back of the truck.

Jacquees reportedly told an officer that he needed to use the bathroom and instructed the officer to move. When the officer placed a hand on Jacquees' arm, the singer allegedly punched the officer's arm.

Police subsequently arrested Jacquees. Jail records show he faced three charges, including battery on an officer, firefighter or EMT. The alleged punch remains an accusation detailed in the police account and has been disputed by the singer.

Jacquees Demands Bodycam Footage After Leaving Jail

Jacquees appeared before a judge on Monday, 28 September, where his bond was set at $3,500 (roughly £2,600). After his release, the 'B.E.D.' singer denied battering an officer and called for footage of the encounter to be made public.

'They gonna have to show the bodycam footage,' Jacquees said.

He also remarked, 'My nose still kind of hurt.'

The singer did not elaborate on what he believed caused the pain to his nose. The available reports do not establish what police bodycam footage, if any, shows about the disputed encounter.
