Kai Trump Net Worth: Trump Family Exposed as First Granddaughter's Luxury Shopping With Secret Service Draws Backlash
Kai visits Erewhon in Santa Monica, sampling luxury items with her security detail nearby as she departs in a motorcade

A shopping vlog posted by Kai Trump has gone viral online and drawn backlash after viewers noticed she brought along her Secret Service protection while filming a luxury grocery run.
The 18-year-old granddaughter of Donald Trump uploaded the nearly 19-minute video on YouTube on 8 March, documenting a trip to the celebrity-favourite grocery store Erewhon Market.
Originally titled 'I Brought My Secret Service to Erewhon,' the vlog shows Kai browsing the store's aisles, joking about the cost of items and reviewing what she bought for her 1.4 million subscribers. The title was later changed to 'I Tried the World's Most Expensive Grocery Store' after the video began drawing criticism online.
Inside the Luxury Shopping Trip
In the video, Kai walks through the Santa Monica store, sampling and purchasing several high-priced items that have helped make Erewhon a popular stop for influencers and celebrities.
The President's granddaughter is allowed to live her life with adequate protection but I think titling your vlog "I brought my Secret Service to Erewhon" and highlighting how you're rolling around California with a seven vehicle (3 motorcycles, 4 SUVs) motorcade is...a misfire https://t.co/9oDATjX1Pe pic.twitter.com/UZzOiO6NMe

At one point, she jokes that she is 'about to go bankrupt' as she adds items to her cart. The haul that included drinks, snacks and prepared food comes to about $233 by the time she reaches checkout.
Security agents believed to be part of her protective detail can be seen nearby as she leaves the store and heads toward a waiting vehicle in a motorcade.
The appearance of the agents quickly became the focus of the online conversation once clips from the video began circulating on social media.
Kai Trump's Net Worth Adds Fuel to the Backlash
The reaction also drew attention to Kai's personal wealth. The granddaughter of Donald Trump and daughter of Donald Trump Jr. is estimated to have a net worth of around $21 million, based on figures reported since 2025.
Most of that wealth is believed to come from a family trust valued at roughly $16 million, along with income from brand partnerships, modelling work and social media content.

Kai has built a sizable audience online, with more than a million subscribers on YouTube and millions of followers across other platforms. In 2025, she also opened her clothing line.
She has also signed name-image-likeness (NIL) deals tied to her golf career as a recruit for the University of Miami program, including equipment partnerships with brands in the sport.
Because of that financial background, critics online questioned why a wealthy influencer would appear to rely on taxpayer-funded protection from the United States Secret Service while filming a personal vlog.
Trump Family Travel and Security Spending
The debate around Kai Trump's vlog has also revived long-running discussions about Secret Service spending tied to the Trump family.
During earlier years of Donald Trump's presidency, watchdog groups reported that travel and security arrangements for family members sometimes required large numbers of agents and significant government resources.
Reports from the Government Accountability Office and the ethics group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington previously documented millions of dollars spent on security for trips involving Trump family members.

Those costs often included flights, hotel accommodations and additional logistics required to protect relatives travelling across the United States and abroad.
Furthermore, shortly after criticism began spreading online, the title of Kai Trump's video was updated to remove the reference to Secret Service agents.
The new title — 'I Tried the World's Most Expensive Grocery Store' — focuses on the Erewhon shopping experience rather than the security detail featured in the original upload.
The video remains online and continues to draw views and commentary.
