Many surprising names and expected names appeared in the latest batch of Epstein files, released by the US Department of Justice. One name, or one particular email of a very close associate of Jeffrey Epstein, has resurfaced yet again.

The name is Karyna Shuliak, which has appeared almost 36,377 times in the files.

The Belarus-born dentist, once described in Epstein's emails as his 'future wife,' is again under scrutiny after private messages between the two went viral. In one, she wrote to him, 'I love you! You are the purest man out of all men.'

The line has since circulated widely online, detached from the complicated, often turbulent relationship it came from. Nearly seven years after Epstein's death in 2019, people are again asking questions about who Shuliak was to him — and where is she now?

Who Is Karyna Shuliak?

Karyna Shuliak was reportedly born in Belarus in the late 1980s and studied dentistry at Belarusian State Medical University before leaving for the United States in 2010. According to reports, she was 20 when she met Epstein in Minsk through a mutual acquaintance.

Emails included in the latest Justice Department file release show Epstein advising her on how to describe her role with one of his foundations when applying for a visa. He later funded her move to New York, covering tuition, housing and family expenses.

According to previously reported records, he paid more than $70,000 (approximately £51,300) a year for her studies at Columbia University's College of Dental Medicine and donated more than $200,000 (around £146,000) to the university around the time she was admitted after an initial rejection. Emails show him lobbying administrators on her behalf.

Financial records cited in court filings also indicate that Epstein sent significant monthly support to her parents in Belarus and paid for her mother's medical treatment during a battle with breast cancer.

Shuliak graduated from Columbia in 2015 and later completed a postgraduate dental program. She eventually obtained licenses in multiple states and the US Virgin Islands.

Shuliak Had a Volatile Relationship With Epstein

According to reports, the relationship between Shuliak and Epstein lasted roughly nine years, from 2010 until his arrest in 2019.

The newly surfaced emails reveal a dynamic marked by intense affection, jealousy and control. In addition to calling him 'the purest man out of all men,' Shuliak expressed anxiety about other women in his life.

Epstein, for his part, complained in messages about not seeing her enough and urged her to prioritise him over school pressures.

Their exchanges show a significant imbalance of power. Epstein, decades older and enormously wealthy, controlled her immigration lawyers, tuition and living arrangements. She was financially dependent on him for years.

Flight logs and property records place her at several of Epstein's residences, including his Manhattan townhouse and properties in the Virgin Islands. But to date, no court documents have charged her with involvement in his sex trafficking crimes.

However, claims have emerged that Shuliak can be one of the redacted faces of women seen close to Epstein in the new files. Also, she was the recipient of his final known jail phone call on 9 August 2019, the day before he was found dead in his cell.

Shuliak Leads a Very Private Life Today

Shuliak has largely withdrawn from public view. Records show she has continued to pursue dental credentials and was seen in a Columbia graduation video in 2023, where she completed advanced training.

She is believed to reside in New York, keeping a low profile as legal proceedings over Epstein's estate continue. Meanwhile, the emails now circulating online have re-ignited attention on her and her awareness of Epstein's criminal activity.

It was reported that two days before his death, Epstein listed her as the beneficiary of his wealth. However, the full extent of what Shuliak will ultimately receive remains uncertain.
