Kelly Osbourne, television personality, singer, and daughter of 'Prince of Darkness' and heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne, drew widespread attention at the 2026 BRIT Awards in Manchester on Saturday, 28 February. Appearing alongside her mother, TV personality Sharon Osbourne, she appeared onstage to accept a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of her late father.

The mother-daughter duo paid tribute to Ozzy's legacy, with Sharon telling the audience that she was 'honoured' to accept the award, while Kelly added: 'Thank you for loving my father as much as we do'. The moment was poignant, but much of the public focus quickly shifted to Kelly's appearance, sparking conversation and criticism online.

Spotlight on Kelly's Appearance

Social media users were quick to point out Kelly's visible weight loss. On the red carpet, she wore a figure-hugging black velvet gown with a feathery cover-up. Her blonde bob hairstyle completed the look. Yet, many are pointing out her sunken cheeks, describing the 41-year-old as 'too thin'.

Contrary to speculation linking her appearance to weight-loss drugs, Kelly's condition stems from grief following the death of her father last year. Ozzy Osbourne died in July 2025 at age 76.

Kelly has spoken openly about the impact of his passing. In February at the Grammys, Kelly admitted, 'It's the hardest thing I've ever been through in my life,' adding that she was 'not doing so great'.

Sharon Osbourne's Defence

Sharon later explained on an episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored that her daughter has been struggling to eat since Ozzy's death, saying: 'She's lost her daddy... she can't eat right now.' Sharon criticised online commentators, describing them as 'unhappy' individuals using social media as a 'shield' to spew hate.

During her interview, Sharon, 73, challenged the cruelty of online criticism. She asked: 'How many times have we been wrong about somebody because of our perception?' She went on to highlight the effort trolls put into targeting others:'Going on their site, taking their time, writing. That's a lot of effort goes into that.'

Kelly Osbourne's Response to Body Shaming

On Sunday, 1 March, Kelly turned to Instagram and addressed the body shaming she received following her recent red carpet appearance. On her Instagram story, Kelly urged fans to have compassion, saying: 'There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something. Kicking me while I'm down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most'.

She continued: 'None of it proves strength; it only reveals a profound absence of compassion and character,' she continued. 'I'm currently going through the hardest time in my life. I should not even have to defend myself. But I won't sit here and allow myself to be dehumanized in such a way!'

Previous Clashes with Online Critics

This is not the first time that Kelly hit back at criticisms about her body and her weight loss. In December 2025, she shared an Instagram video addressing comments such as 'Are you ill?' and 'Get off Ozempic, you don't look right.' She responded, 'My dad just died, and I'm doing the best that I can, and the only thing I have to live for right now is my family.'

More recently, she slammed 'disgusting' body shaming, saying that she 'can't believe how disgusting some human beings truly are,' adding that 'no one deserves this sort of abuse!' Some of the most extreme remarks suggested she looked like a 'dead body' and that she is 'going to see her dad soon.'
