'You Could See Every Bone': Kelly Osbourne Talks About Weight Loss, Says Grief Left Her 'A Broken Person'
Kelly said grief affected her appetite so severely that she no longer registered hunger

Kelly Osbourne has candidly opened up about the dramatic weight loss she said she experienced following the death of her father, Ozzy Osbourne, revealing that she did not recognise how much her appearance had changed until she saw a photo months later.
The 41-year-old said she was too consumed by grief to see what friends and family were seeing, as the loss affected her appetite, weight and wellbeing.
Kelly Osbourne on Her Dramatic Weight Loss
In an interview with The Mail on Sunday, published on 6 September, Kelly recalled seeing a photo taken during a dress fitting ahead of the 2026 Grammy Awards, where her father was honoured in a tribute.
The image shocked her. She described herself as resembling the 'Crypt Keeper', adding: 'My spine, you could see every single bone.'
Kelly said she had not realised how much weight she had lost because she was consumed by grief.
'I couldn't see what other people saw because I was in so much pain,' she explained. 'I just saw a broken person.' Seeing the photo made Kelly realise how much her appearance had changed
Why Kelly Wore a Wig at the Grammys
Kelly attended the Grammy Awards in February 2026 with her family as they honoured Ozzy, who died aged 76 in July 2025.
She said she wore a wig that covered part of her face because she did not want people to see how thin her cheekbones had become. Her styling team also helped select clothes that would not emphasise her weight loss.
Looking back, Kelly said she did not think she should have attended because she 'wasn't very well'. However, she wanted to support her mother, Sharon Osbourne, and pay tribute to her father's legacy.
Grief Affected Kelly's Appetite
Kelly said her grief affected her appetite so severely that she no longer registered feelings of hunger.
She described the physical effects of her distress, saying: 'You're filled with so much pain that the feeling of hunger can't even pop up.'
Her comments follow months of public scrutiny over her appearance. In December 2025, she pushed back against online speculation about whether she was ill and comments accusing her of using Ozempic, saying her father had recently died and that she was doing the best she could.
Sharon also defended her daughter during an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, saying Kelly had struggled to eat following Ozzy's death.
As previously reported, Kelly said she was 'getting a lot better' as she continued to work through her grief and focus on her recovery.
Kelly's Future Plans
Kelly said she is planning a three-part series about grief and mental health to share more of her experience.
'I'm going to do a three-part documentary series on grief and mental health, and what I went through, and tell my story because there's a lot that people don't know,' she said.
After experiencing what she described as 'anticipatory grief' as her father's health deteriorated, Kelly said she had mistakenly believed she was ready for his death.
'The person I was before my dad died is dead,' she said. 'That person doesn't exist anymore.'
She has also spoken about protecting her three-year-old son, Sidney, from seeing her at her lowest, saying she tried to remain upbeat around him and avoid exposing him to her grief.
Kelly's latest comments come as she continues to navigate the lasting effects of losing her father and rebuild her life after his death.
