Nintendo has debuted its first major look at gameplay from the upcoming HD remake of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess via eight minutes of footage in the latest episode of the Nintendo Minute. The remake is set for release on Wii U on 4 March 2016.

The demo starts outside the Castle Town hub area of the game and introduces some of the remake's new elements, including a look at the Wolf Link amiibo being released alongside the game and a new feature allowing Link to transform in and out of his wolf form with the touch of the button.

A lot of effort has been put into the remake's visuals, bringing it up to a 1080p standard and greatly improving the level of detail. The game's original release appeared quite murky, but this update brings to life the game's muted colour palette. After running around Castle Town for a while, the video's hosts Kit and Krysta take a trip to the city in the sky, one of the game's most unique locations. You can watch the video below.

Twilight Princess HD was announced in November 2015 and is the second Zelda remake for the Wii U, following Wind Waker HD's release in 2013. The game arrives as Wii U owners continue their long wait for the new Zelda game, which was delayed from its original 2015 release window to 2016.

Many expect the new, unnamed Zelda to be a cross-generational release heading to both the Wii U and Nintendo's next console – codenamed NX – which is expected to be released this year. It would be the first Zelda to be released simultaneously on two consoles since Twilight Princess was released on Wii and GameCube.

Twilight Princess HD will be released on 4 March.
