Lupito Nyong'o is the Hollywood star of the moment after her Oscar winning performance in 12 Years A Slave.

The in-demand actress may now have bagged a coveted role in the forthcoming Star Wars sequel.

The 30-year-old is rumoured to have met Star Wars Episode VII director JJ Abrams before winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, to discuss the role.

A representative for the 12 Years A Slave star refused to comment on the reports saying: "We're not allowed to talk about that."

The cast list for the highly anticipated sequel is closely guarded, however it has been reported that Girls actor Adam Driver is close to signing up to follow in the footsteps of the iconic Darth Vader, to play the new villain in the film.

According to Variety, Downton Abbey actor Ed Speleers, Attack the Block star John Boyega, Jesse Plemons and stage actors Matthew James Thomas and Ray Fisher are all vying for the male lead role.

The movie is scheduled to release on December 18, 2015.
