A 32-year old suspect has been detained by the Dutch police following a fire at the British embassy in The Hague.
He was detained near the heavily-guarded British diplomatic mission when the fire broke out at about 7am local time. The UK embassy is located in Lange Voorhout in the diplomatic quarter of the historic city.
"One man has been detained in relation to the fire at the British embassy this morning. The cause of the fire is being investigated," the Dutch police tweeted.
No one was injured in the incident. The police said an investigation is underway. Firefighters are believed to have already brought the blaze under control, but the embassy staff are waiting for personnel to complete their work at the scene so as to re-enter the facility.
