With all the talk surrounding Paul Scholes' gallant return to Manchester United, it's easy to forget that Sir Alex Ferguson will be working hard on getting hold of the club's long term targets, in preparation for the summer if not now.

The Scot claimed last month that it would be particularly difficult for the Red Devils to sign a player who they felt could add to the team before the June, with teams often overvaluing their stars in the January window.

But Ferguson did hint that the club are on the lookout for some targets in the long term, with the United manager admitting that there are players being watched by the club in the hopes of making a purchase.
