Striker Upbeat About United Future Amid Exit Speculation

Robin van Persie says he hopes to continue to improve alongside Wayne Rooney despite the Manchester United striker recently being connected with a move away from the club.

Van Persie has reportedly been unhappy at Old Trafford after Sir Alex Ferguson made way for David Moyes and as the side currently sit in a disappointing ninth position in the league the Holland international is believed to be the subject of interest from Barcelona.

But the hitman is currently concentrating on a future with United and says that his partnership with Rooney, who has turned his career around this season and been a stand out player for the Red Devils, will continue to blossom in the future as he looks to get the side back on track.

"It's the interaction together, it's that we both want to play together," he told MUTV. "We realise that we are better off playing together because we are stronger as a partnership.

"With a player of Wayne's calibre we can go from strength to strength and become even better than we are now.

"Lately we've been playing really well together, we've been setting up goals for each other, we are both scoring, which is what I want.

"It is important that this partnership is growing and becoming even stronger."

United have won just four league games in their last 10, having failed to take a victory in their most recent four matches.

The club are still adjusting to life with Moyes and Rio Ferdinand recently commented that some of his tactics have been particularly difficult to get used to for the players.

With the Christmas period nearing, Red Devils will be hoping that their form picks up quickly so they can at least re-take their place in the top four and with upcoming fixtures against the likes of Aston Villa, West Ham and Hull next on the agenda.
