Marc Anthony and Venezuelan Model Girlfriend Shannon de Lima Break-Up

American actor and singer/songwriter Marc Anthony has called it quits with girlfriend Shannon de Lima, a Venezuelan model who was first runner-up at Miss Earth Venezuela 2005.

"Marc is no longer dating model Shannon de Lima," Anthony's representative Blanca Lasalle told People magazine, "The amicable breakup became official right in mid-January."

The two went public with their relationship on Twitter last year, when the 43-year-old singer sent a tweet to De Lima: "A mi @Shadelima mi estatua de libertad. Besos bebe". The English translation reads: "To @Shadelima, my statue of liberty. Kisses, baby."

Anthony also posted a picture of the pair on Facebook. The two were last spotted on 16 January, in New York City.

"Shannon was dancing up a storm with her friends while sipping champagne and taking iPhone photos of the themselves and the light show. At one point, Shannon even jokingly gave Marc a lap dance when Pitbull came on," an observer noted at the time.

Although the reason behind the split is unknown, insiders say that despite a "great time together", the relationship "no longer worked". However, the break-up doesn't seem to have affected Anthony too much, with a source saying the singer is "in a good place".

Anthony was previously married to singer and actress Jennifer Lopez for seven years. The couple has two children - Emme Maribel Muñiz and Maximilian Max David Muñiz. The two separated in 2011, with Anthony filing for divorce in April last year.

News of the split comes after Anthony had a brief reunion with Lopez. A report in the New York Post states the 43-year-old Lopez, wearing "thigh-high stiletto boots and a leopard-print micromini" was seen entering The Mark, where Anthony was staying. The secret meeting lasted for two and a half hours, after which Anthony was seen leaving.
