Unsolved Melanie Hall Murder: Fresh Investigation Starts 30 Years Later
Detective Chief Ben Lavender leads a fresh investigation into the unsolved murder of Melanie Hall, 30 years after her disappearance.

The Melanie Hall murder case is over 30 years old, and authorities remain befuddled about who was responsible for the death of the 25-year-old woman. Arrests, evidence, and witnesses have been gathered to date. However, none have come close to finding out what truly happened to the clerical worker at the Royal United Hospital.
Despite multiple setbacks in the case, authorities are not ready to close the book. In fact, a fresh investigation into the heinous death of Hall is being launched with Detective Chief Ben Lavender leading the probe.
No less than Lavender himself made a call, reminding people about the weekend of Hall's disappearance. It was on 9 June 1996 when Melanie was last seen alive at the Cadillacs nightclub with her friends. Hall was last seen sitting by the side of the dancefloor alone when her friends left the venue.
'We believe there's a strong possibility Melanie left the nightclub with her killer, as a coat she had checked into a cloakroom was collected, but she could have met them outside or gotten into a car,' Lavender said in a report by Sky News.
Lovers Quarrel Angle
Considering she stayed behind after her friends left near the dancefloor was a bit odd. But if the accounts of witnesses are to be considered, Melanie may have been dealing with relationship issues at the time.
In a BBC report, Hall and her boyfriend at the time allegedly spent the afternoon together before heading to the club with her friends. However, an argument between the couple allegedly took place according to witnesses. This was after Melanie allegedly danced with another man.
If this is true, the angle that Lavender suggested about Melanie leaving the club with another man and possibly the killer seems aligned. Either that, or Hall could have left the club and met her killer outside the premises.

Figuring out motive
After that, the next event in the Melanie Hall timeline is a bit shady. Her skeletal remains were found 13 years later – 5 October 2009 to be exact – at the junction 14 northbound slip road of the M5 by men who were cutting grass.
Her body was found wrapped in thick black bin liners and bound with blue plastic rope. The pale blue silk dress, black suede shoes, cream jacket, and black handbag she had at the time were never found. Also missing were her cosmetics, her Midland cheque book, and bank card.
As far as developments, police were allegedly able to get a partial DNA sample from the rope used. Despite this claim, police never charged anyone possibly linked to the murder. Several suspects have also been probed through the years, but even this has not helped solve the Melanie Hall murder case.
Lavender intends to revisit key witnesses and review CCTV footage in an effort to find overlooked evidence. He is determined to find answers, aware that Melanie's family deserves to know what truly happened to the 25-year-old and who was behind her ghastly death.
