Congratulations are in order for Kerry Washington who is pregnant with her second child. The 39-year-old, who plays crisis manager Olivia Pope on ABC's White House thriller, Scandal, confirmed she is expecting her second child with former NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha at the 2016 Met Gala.

In true Kerry style, the fiercely private actress did not make an official announcement. Instead, she let her growing bump do the talking as she strutted her stuff on the red carpet. She flaunted her curves in a sleeveless black embellished lace gown which featured a plunging v-neck, a sexy thigh-high slit and a pair of over-the-elbow sheer gloves. To complete the edgy look she spotted red hair and smoky eyes. Just in case fans mistook her bump for a bloated belly, she made a point of cradling her belly as she posed for the cameras.

Washington and Asomugha tied the knot in a secret ceremony in Hailey, Idaho, in July 2013 and welcomed daughter Isabelle Amarachi a few months later. The pregnancy news will no doubt finally bring an end to incessant split rumours that have blighted the couple's marriage for years. Back in 2014 OK! Magazine, reported that Washington and her other half were living separate lives. "He's always MIA [missing in action]... she's spent very little time with him," the insider said.

But she recently insisted that just because her personal life is off limits, this doesn't mean her marriage is in trouble.

And it looks like Washington has no plans to slow down in pregnancy's early stages. Hours earlier she joined the likes of Adriana Lima, Gabrielle Union and Priyanka Chopra at President Obamas's final White House Correspondents' Dinner. For the event, the soon-to-be mother-of-two choose a knee-length Victoria by Victoria Beckham dress with a ruffled skirt. She paired it with simple double strapped sandals and a matching black clutch.

Although the stars came dressed to impress for the annual black-tie dinner, it was the US leader who stole the show with epic one liners and a comedy routine during his speech. Obama poked fun at his potential successors, joked that Prince George had broken with protocol by meeting him wearing PJs, and even through in a reference to Kendall Jenner's popularity for good measure.
