Microsoft Band out, Band 2 in shortly IBTimes UK

There has been much speculation about Microsoft launching a next-gen variant of the Band to offset multiple inherent issues in the current-gen gadget. Now, the Band has received a generous 15% discount in the UK, hinting at the launch of Band 2 in the near future.

Consumers still interested in purchasing the first-gen Microsoft Band, can do so on Amazon UK that has priced the wearable at £145, £25 lower than the original price tag of £170. The latest reduction in price follows the slashing of prices of the Band in the US. Amazon US is currently selling Microsoft's first-gen wearable at $150.

Amazon UK's new offer is applicable to all three variants of Microsoft Band, and the e-tailer is also claiming to ship the gadget for free across the United Kingdom. Amazon US is also delivering the wearable throughout the country, without charging delivery fees.

However, with the current-gen Microsoft Band reportedly facing problems such as a below-par battery life and the display being prone to scratches, the unreleased Microsoft Band 2 is currently the subject of intense rumour mills. The new wearable is speculated to be launched in 2015.
