Motorola has started Android Lollipop soak test for Moto E and Moto Maxx. Motorola

Motorola expands Android 5.0 Lollipop to two more Moto devices. The company has just confirmed rolling out of Android Lollipop for Moto Maxx with soak testing in Brazil and Mexico and for Moto E in Brazil and India.

Android Lollipop first comes to Moto E and Moto Maxx retail units. As usual the roll-out starts to smaller test groups, and if the results seem fine then Motorola will expand the software to more phones.

The company also states that Moto E users should have the latest version of Motorola Update Services from Play Store, for the upgrade.

If you are a Moto E user you get the Android 5.0.2 OTA update for the soak test right away using the download link for the soak test OTA zip uploaded by XDA member, prateektaneja. The update weighs in at 361MB and it bumps the Android Lollipop version to 5.0.2.

Head over to the installation guide if you want to install Android 5.0.2 soak test OTA firmware on your Moto E. But keep in mind that you will have to restore the Android device to stock non-rooted Moto E status before installing the OTA.

How to install Android 5.0.2 (soak test) OTA on Moto E

Step-1: Download Android 5.0.2 Lollipop soak test firmware for Mote E on the computer

Step-2: Ensure you have the latest Motorola Update Services app installed on your device

Step-3: Connect the Moto E to the PC and transfer the downloaded file to the internal phone storage. Note that the file should be in the root of internal storage

Step-4: Disconnect the phone from the computer

Step-5: Reboot Moto E into recovery mode

For this first switch off the phone completely

Press Power, Volume Up, Volume Down keys together to enter bootloader menu

Select recovery option using Volume Down button and Volume Up to enter

An Android logo should now appear. Press Volume Up and Volume Down buttons for about five seconds and Power button to display the menu

Step-6: Wipe the system cache then reboot the phone

Step-7: Go to Settings>> About phone>> System Updates and select "Yes. I'm in" to install the OTA file on the phone. If the update did not pop up, press check for update button
