Marquez is on top of the leader board with 233 points, leading his teammate Pedrosa by 30 points. The defending champion trails Marquez and Pedrosa, the former by 39 points. With five more races after the San Marino Grand Prix, a failure to fire in Misano could see Lorenzo lose the grip on retaining the MotoGP Championship.

Meanwhile, Britain star and Tech 3 rider Cal Crutchlow managed to finish in top ten for the qualifying, taking the final spot.
