Children's educator and YouTube creator Ms Rachel has refused to 'fan girl' over an unnamed 'huge celeb' who she says is 'doing nothing' during what she describes as a genocide in Gaza, while revealing that she has previously tried to persuade people with major platforms to speak out.

In an Instagram post, Accurso, whose full name is Rachel Accurso, shared a hypothetical exchange asking whether she wanted to meet a 'huge celeb'. Her response was: 'No. I don't fan girl over someone who is doing nothing during a genocide.'

In the caption accompanying the post, she said she would still be willing to speak with someone with a large audience if she believed she could persuade them to speak out, adding: '(And I have)'. Accurso did not identify the celebrity or the people she said she had previously approached.

Ms Rachel Says She Has Tried To Change Minds

Accurso's Instagram post presented the exchange as a hypothetical question and did not name a specific celebrity. She then clarified her position in the caption, writing: 'Though I'd have a conversation with someone with a massive platform any day to try and convince them to speak out.'

She added: '(And I have)', indicating that she has previously had conversations with people who have significant audiences. Accurso did not say who she had approached, what was discussed or whether anyone changed their public position following those conversations.

The use of the word 'genocide' was Accurso's own description of the situation in Gaza. The post did not provide further details about the celebrity referenced in the question.

Ms Rachel's Gaza Advocacy

Accurso has become increasingly outspoken about children affected by conflict, particularly in Gaza. Her YouTube channel has more than 21 million subscribers, while she also has millions of followers across Instagram and TikTok. Her Gaza advocacy has become a prominent part of her public profile alongside her children's educational work.

She has also spoken publicly about children affected by conflicts in Sudan and Ukraine. In a September interview with Rolling Stone, Accurso said she felt she 'couldn't not speak out' about Gaza after seeing images and videos of Palestinian children affected by the conflict.

Her advocacy has attracted both support and criticism. Accurso has continued to defend her decision to discuss the conflict publicly while maintaining her work as a children's educator and online creator.

Accurso Pledged $1m to Gaza Aid

Accurso's latest comments come after she became involved in a high-profile fundraising effort linked to rapper Macklemore.

After Macklemore pledged $1 million (about £758k) from his earnings from the Ed Sheeran Loop Tour to organisations supporting Palestinians, Accurso said she would match the donation. She said her contribution would go to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund and called on other wealthy celebrities to make similar donations.

Macklemore had been removed from the remaining US dates of Sheeran's tour after making pro-Palestinian comments during performances. The decision prompted the other scheduled support acts to withdraw from the remaining dates in solidarity with him.

Accurso has not identified the 'huge celeb' referenced in her latest Instagram post. She has also not said who she previously approached about speaking out or whether those conversations led to any change in their public position.
