R'n'b crooner Ne-Yo has provoked the wrath of fans after refusing to publicly recognise his former fiancé on Mother's Day. On 8 May, the So Sick hitmaker took time out to celebrate with his mother and new wife Crystal Renay, and their own separate Instagram post. However, a tribute to Monyetta Shaw, the mother of his two children, was missing from his timeline.

Fans are now up in arms over his decision to praise Renay as a good stepmother, whilst ignoring his children's actual mother. It seems that fans have long memories and are still reeling from the revelation that she agreed to be sterilised and "have her tubes tied and burned" at his request.

"She carried your kids & put her life on the line & had her tubes burned to please you smh the stupid thing's we do for love & this is how you respect her, have another baby knowing if she moves on with another man she can't have kids out of her body," one commentator said while another said, "Will never support this man again. He is disgusting to the mother of his children."

But the 36-year-old star has some fans in his corner who insisted that he was simply being respectful to his new wife, noting that he may have acknowledged Shaw in private.

Just days earlier, Renay and Shaw traded subliminal blows on snapchat after her love rival revealed intimate details about her sex life with Ne-Yo during a promotional pitstop on Bossip's Don't Be Scared podcast for her new book Bigger Than Me. She admitted compromising her values and engaging in threesomes during their relationship.

Renay kicked off the drama by posting a lip-synching video to Snapchat showing her flipping the bird, captioned, "Now ya wanna confess?" and "Girl Bye". Within minutes Shaw hit back with her own video. Her caption read: "Why U so obsessed with me."
