New Jersey Woman Indicted After Allegedly Offering a Hitman $12,000 to Kill Ex-Boyfriend and His Daughter

Jaclyn D. Diiorio, 28, of Runnemede, New Jersey, has been federally indicted on allegations that she attempted to arrange a murder-for-hire plot. The 28-year-old allegedly offered $12,000 to a person she believed was a hitman to kill her ex-boyfriend.

The alleged primary target was identified in previous court proceedings and media reports as 53-year-old Philadelphia police officer Matthew O'Hanlon. His 19-year-old daughter, who was also allegedly targeted, has not been publicly named.

The accused allegedly used her cellphone to reach out to a confidential informant who was posing as a hitman. Prosecutors allege that Diiorio met the informant through Tinder in March 2025, where she discussed having her ex-boyfriend and his daughter killed.

Authorities further allege that Diiorio ultimately handed the informant $500 as a down payment for the murder-for-hire plot. The accused was also said to have promised to pay the informant roughly $12,000 in total for the murders.

Informant Alerts Authorities to Alleged Murder Plot

According to an affidavit, Diiorio and the confidential informant first met at a Wawa in Runnemede on 31 March 2025. The two reportedly kept in contact and communicated through phone calls and text messages over the following days.

According to the affidavit, Diiorio and the confidential informant met again on 4 April in the car park of a Dollar General store on North Black Horse Pike in Gloucester Township. Authorities allege that Diiorio handed the informant $500 in cash during the meeting.

According to prosecutors, the informant alerted authorities to the alleged plot, prompting investigators to notify the Philadelphia Police Department about the intended targets. Diiorio was eventually arrested after the exchange by members of the Gloucester Township Police Department's Special Response Team.

The Camden County Prosecutor's Office initially charged the accused with two counts of first-degree attempted murder and first-degree conspiracy to commit murder. She was also charged with third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance after authorities allegedly found an unlabeled bottle containing pills suspected to be alprazolam when she was arrested.

Relationship Ended Less Than a Month Earlier

Prosecutors said the alleged scheme came less than a month after Diiorio and O'Hanlon ended their relationship on 6 March 2025. Prosecutors previously said the pair had met while Diiorio was working as O'Hanlon's barber.

According to court proceedings, Diiorio filed a temporary restraining order against O'Hanlon in August 2024 but later withdrew it.

Prosecutors also alleged during earlier court proceedings that the 2025 scheme was not Diiorio's first attempt to arrange the killings. According to prosecutors, Diiorio told the confidential informant that she had previously been deceived by people who sent her photographs falsely claiming to show that the killings had been carried out.

Diiorio's Federal Charges Announced

Federal prosecutors announced the indictment on 9 September 2026. Diiorio made her initial appearance before US Magistrate Judge Scott W. Reid and remains in federal custody pending a detention hearing scheduled for 14 September.

The indictment charges Diiorio with two counts of using interstate commerce facilities in the commission of a murder-for-hire. Prosecutors allege she used a cellular phone to facilitate the planned killings.

Meanwhile, Diiorio's attorney, Robert Gamburg, has said she intends to plead not guilty. Her defence has also previously argued that investigators relied on evidence involving entrapment. If convicted, she could face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
