Muhammadu Buhari
Nigeria's president, Muhammadu Buhari, has announced his proposed new cabinet Reuters

The Nigerian senate has announced the country's new cabinet, appointed months after newly elected President Muhammadu Buhari took office in May. Buhari said in July he would appoint a new cabinet in September, as he wanted to give priority to more pending issues, such as corruption and the fight against Boko Haram terrorists in the north east. The Nigerian leader appointed himself as minister of petroleum resources.

The ministerial list was sent to the senate president, Bukola Saraki, by Buhari. Saraki announced the screening of the nominees would start on 13 October.
