Florence and the Machine beat Adele to the Best Solo Artist while Noel Gallagher was awarded the Godlike Genius Award at the NME Awards 2012.

Florence also picked up the gong for Best Track for her song Shake it Out.

Kasabian took home the award for Best British Band and paid tribute to Davy Jones by bursting into an impromptu version of The Monkees theme on stage.

The Horrors' Skying was named Best Album and Foo Fighters were handed the Best International band award.
