The sequel to the OnePlus One smartphone is coming by the third quarter of next year.

Carl Pei, director of OnePlus One global, has confirmed this to BGR saying the company is planning to launch the OnePlus Two.

"We are planning to announce the OnePlus Two in Q2 or Q3 next year. So it is one after this phone (OnePlus One)," confirmed Carl Pei.

Regarding the release in India, he said that, "India will be one of the first countries we will launch the OnePlus Two in."

It is no surprise that the company is bringing the successor to OnePlus One, given the huge popularity gained by the smartphone, which runs CyanogenMod 11s based on Android 4.4.4.

Carl Pei has previously confirmed this through the AMA session in Reddit.

"OnePlus 2 should be out in Q2 or Q3 of 2015. By that time, I'd think Android L would be standard. We've seen a lot of people asking for a smaller device, and want to let everyone know that we hear you. We're thinking about it."

In terms of hardware, the OnePlus Two is expected to feature a smaller screen than the OnePlus One, perhaps 5.2in, 5.0in or even 4.7in, making it easier for users to perform one-handed operations.
