The official synopsis for the next episode reads:

As tensions between Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) grow, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) steps in and encourages her to regain her position within her werewolf pack. Still under Davina's (Danielle Campbell) control, Mikael (Sebastian Roche) grows impatient while she attempts to uncover a spell that would protect those closest to her. When Elijah turns to Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) for help in tracking down a vital piece of information, he is forced to remember a time long ago when they were on better terms. Meanwhile, Davina and Kaleb (guest star Daniel Sharmon) find themselves in a dangerous situation when unexpected visitors show up and crash their dinner. Finally, Klaus grows suspicious after a meeting with Cassie (guest star Natalie Dreyfuss) doesn't go as he had planned.

In the premiere episode we found that both Kol and Finn are back from the other side and in the bodies of witches named Kaleb (Daniel Sharman) and Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood). The episode ended with Esther taking control of Cassie's body and she tells her sons that there will be a family reunion soon.

Co-Executive Producer Michael Narducci addressed what fans can expect in the coming weeks.

On the season premiere twist, Narducci told Access Hollywood, "Our hope was that this would be the season about the return of mother and father and as you now know, the return of the brothers as well."

"They've been displaced in these bodies and there is a lot of family stuff that we need to get out. I think that's the big theme of this season is the past returning to haunt you and enemies who are even more dangerous because they know you intimately," he added.

Also, Davina is still not ready to let go of Mikael, the original vampire. But why?

"I think it's absolutely an obstacle keeping Davina from just unleashing Mikael," Narducci said of why the teen witch hasn't let Mikael loose.

"She wants to disconnect that sire line, which by the way, is probably also important for fans of 'Vampire Diaries' because that would mean Stefan and Damon wouldn't die either," he added.
