The film, which would have starred Bloom and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the leading roles, will follow an amnesiac woman who wakes up in the wilderness whose survival depends on a mysterious but charming man who may not be who he says he is. 'Reset' was originally set to be directed by Matt Smukler, but the 'Wildflower' director had also left the project in July.

While news of Bloom's departure from the project shifted blame onto him, insiders painted a picture of dishonest executive management that contributed to the chaotic production.

Bloom Reportedly 'Upset' Over 'Vindictive' Claims on Production Troubles

A production source insisted that Bloom's departure was not the reason for the film's production troubles, but instead that chaotic management had compelled him to leave the project. 'Orlando didn't quit at the last minute,' an insider told the Daily Mail. 'It's all bulls***. It would be nice to tell the truth. I do not like that Orlando has been thrown under the bus. I can't even believe it.'

Filming was set to begin in August according to Deadline, but TMZ later reported that Bloom had exited production just as cameras were starting to roll, leaving the cast and crew 'screwed over.'

The outlet's sources claimed that the project secured funding partly because Bloom and Chopra Jones were attached. Bloom's notoriety and international profile were seen as important for securing distribution for the independent film. The producers were reportedly considering three actors as his replacement, with Chopra Jones helping with the final decision.

Sources disputed Bloom's alleged role in disrupting the film's production. 'Obviously someone leaked this to save their own a**, or it's vindictive.'

'There was a lack of budget and a lack of transparency. They just kept changing the location because of money,' the insider elaborated.

Director Matt Smukler Left Before Bloom Due to Budget Getting 'Smaller and Smaller'

The budget constraints contributed to director Matt Smukler's departure from the project in mid-July, causing producers to 'scramble to find another director'.

When speaking about Smukler's decision to exit the project, an insider claimed, 'The scope and some of the circumstances of the production just changed from what sort of initially had been anticipated. Matt just ultimately felt that it was best for him to step away.'

'For a filmmaker like Matt who's so strategic, methodical and planned, it was just too much of a moving target at that point that he said, 'You know what, it just makes more sense to step aside and let them find someone who can figure all this out,' the insider continued, adding that it was a 'tough decision.'

Smukler's spokesperson released a statement on his behalf without criticising the production, 'Matt's grateful for the opportunity to have been involved and has tremendous respect for the talent and team behind the film. He wishes everyone involved the very best.'

In the wake of Smukler's departure, the cast and crew were under immediate pressure to find a replacement director. 'It goes without saying that when a director leaves fairly abruptly, it was at a breaking point. It was very chaotic.'

Bloom had reportedly warned that his continued involvement with the project depended on finding a director comfortable with working under these budget constraints. While the actor stayed on for a few more weeks, he left when he deemed the situation had not improved.

Bloom Reportedly 'Disappointed' With Film's Production Crisis

While Bloom has not publicly addressed his exit from 'Reset', insiders indicate that he is unhappy with how the situation unfolded.
