Pizza pipe

Smoking marijuana and getting the munchies go hand in hand, so a clever New York designer has married the two together by creating the "Pizza Pipe". It all comes as part of the box it is delivered in.

Created by the Nikolas Gregory design studio, the design allows you to peel away part of the box and fold it into a small hexagonal pipe. The little piece which prevents the top of the box from crushing the pizza has been modified to act as a carbonator and chamber and becomes the bowl for the marijuana.

However, while most companies use plastic for them, the design for an app called Push for Pizza, has used a temperature resistant ceramic which fits into the end of the pipe and allows users to smoke.

"It is common to crave food when one gets high," Push for Pizza co-founder Cyrus Summerlin told AdWeek. "It is also typical practice to order a quick pizza to satisfy this craving. We are aware of these trends and decided to combine these two interests in an actual product."

He added that he expected it to last for a long time, although the pipe was only at the prototype stage and the company was still deciding whether to do a limited run of them in time for 20 April, a time when marijuana users all over the world like to gather in public places and celebrate Cannabis Culture.

"The pizza is in hand before the munchies set in, leading to a more relaxed and enjoyable experience without the interminable delay of its delivery or the pain of gnawing hunger," he added. "And the pipe comes at no additional cost. Its materials are 100% recyclable."

If it does move into mass production, it will likely use a temperature-resistant vegetable-based recyclable plastic instead of the ceramic carbonator, he said.
