James Van Der Beek's Cause of Death
A rep for the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office in Texas told TMZ that the actor's death was reported at 6:44 a.m. However, no cause of death was provided.
Van Der Beek, however, had been open about his battle with cancer. In an interview with People in November 2024, the Dawson's Creek star admitted that he was diagnosed with colorectal cancer.
At the time, he admitted that he had been taking medication to address his health problem. He remained optimistic and was 'feeling good.'

It is presumed that Van Der Beek succumbed to cancer. In Kimberly's announcement, she stated that her husband 'passed peacefully.'
'He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace,' Kimberly stated. 'There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity, and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.'
Van Der Beek is survived by his wife and their six children, Olivia, Joshua, Annabel, Emilia, Gwendolyn and Jeremiah.
