Square Enix has confirmed that the PC version of timed Xbox exclusive Rise of the Tomb Raider will be released on Steam and the Windows 10 store on Thursday 28 January. The game was first released on Microsoft's consoles in November 2015.

In a press release Scot Amos, co-Head of Studio at developer Crystal Dynamics, said: "The PC release of Rise of the Tomb Raider continues the positive momentum from our highly successful partnership and collaboration with Microsoft for the launch on Xbox One and Xbox 360."

The standard version will be available for £39.99 with the Digital Deluxe edition (which includes the Season Pass) priced at £59.99. This version will include "nearly all current and future DLC" – quite what this means hasn't been verified.

A Collector's Edition, which is the Digital Deluxe version of the game that also comes with a 12-inch Lara Croft statue, replicas of Lara's journal and jade necklace, and a steel case, will also be available from the Square Enix e-store for £109.99.

Ron Rosenberg, co-Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics, said: "PC players are a passionate, devoted audience and we know they'll embrace the version created for their systems."

Rise of the Tomb Raider is the follow-up to 2013's reboot of the famed franchise. Our review called it "a stellar sequel" that "is visually fabulous, boasting stunning environments, and improvements to the core exploration and combat gameplay."

A PS4 version of the game will be released toward the end of 2016.
