Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 received XWALE2 Android 4.0.3official firmware a couple of months ago in August. Users who want to root XWALE2 Android 4.0.3 on their device my do so by the following method. The guide below involves rooting the device using ClockworkMod (CWM) recovery. IBTimes UK will not be held responsible for any damage to the devices suring the process.

Pre-requisites:

  • Ensure that you have installed the USB drivers for your Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
  • Enable USB debugging mode by navigating to Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging and enable the USB debugging
  • Check whether your phone's battery has a charge of at least 80 per cent
  • Backup all your data
  • Finally, make sure that your tablet is factory unlocked
  • This method is compatible only with Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and not any other variants
  • CWM recovery should be installed
  • An external SD card is required since CWM recovery will not recognise internal storage

Root XWALE2 Android 4.0.3 on Galaxy Tab 2 10.1:

  • Install CWM Recovery on Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and download Root package to your computer
  • Connect and mount your device USB memory on your computer via USB cable
  • Copy the downloaded zip file to your SD card
  • Turn off the tablet and unplug from USB cable
  • Enter in Recovery mode ( to do so, switch on the device, while press and hold Volume Down + Power buttons)
  • Scroll to flash zip from SD card and press the Power button
  • Once again press the Power button and select choose zip from sdcard
  • Head to and choose the zip file and then confirm the installation by tapping on Yes
  • Now go to +++++Go Back and reboot the device by choosing reboot system now

Your Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 should now be rooted on XXALE2 Android 4.0.3 ICS firmware.
