ZTE Era
ZTE Era was announced on Mobile World Congress event, 2012 ZTE

Chinese mobile manufacturer ZTE announced the Era, a quad-core smartphone, at the recently held Mobile World Congress (MWC). The Nvidia Tegra 3 powered smartphone will be released across Europe and China in the second half of the year.

Meanwhile, the eagerly anticipated Galaxy S3 - expected to see the light of day at the 3 May event in London - is undoubtedly one of the most high-profile gadgets of the year. The company recently launched a countdown Web site for the phone's launch and released a teaser video short after. In addition, they also announced the device would have a 1.4 GHz Exynos 4 quad-core processor.

Display

The next Galaxy smartphone will feature a 4.6in display which will have a resolution of 720x1184 pixels, according to CNET UK. In addition, according to an earlier IBTimes UK report, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is expected to feature a physical "Home" button and a five column User Interface (UI) design.

The ZTE Era, on the other hand, will feature a 4.3in QHD screen that will deliver high quality images with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels.

Size

Samsung has not, so far, revealed any information about dimensions of the next Galaxy phone. However, according earlier IBTimes UK reports, the gadget will be slightly thinner but heavier.

Meanwhile, the Era, with a thickness of 7.8mm, is claimed as being one of the thinnest quad-core devices around.

Operating System

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is expected to run on Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The Era will run on a slightly older version, Android 4.0. However, the Era is expected to be ZTE's most powerful Android device yet.

Processor

The Korean tech giant recently confirmed its next Galaxy device would be powered by a 1.4 GHz Exynos 4 quad-core processor, with 1GB RAM. The Exynos 4 quad-core has twice the processing capabilities of the 45nm process-based Exynos 4 Dual chip and consumes 20 percent less power, according to Market Watch. The ZTE Era will be equipped with a Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core 1.3GHz mobile processor and also packs 1GB RAM.

Camera

The Galaxy S3 will, reportedly, have an eight megapixel camera. However, earlier reports suggested the S3 could have a 12 megapixel unit. The Era will, however, have an eight megapixel primary camera with Geo-tagging and should be able to record video in 1080p at 30 frames per second.

Connectivity

There is no information on the connectivity options the Galaxy S3 will offer but it will undoubtedly offer as strong an array of options as possible. Meanwhile, the Era will support Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, UMA, Wi-Fi hotspot and Bluetooth version 3.0.

Storage

The Galaxy S3 will have 16GB of internal memory, including support for a microSD card. The Era will have 8GB of onboard memory and also support a microSD card.

Battery

The Galaxy S3 is expected to carry a 2050mAh battery with Near Field Communication (NFC) capabilities and the ZTE Era will be powered with a standard Li-ion battery.
