Sebastian Vettel wins third Formula 1 world title
Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel made it a hat trick of Formula 1 titles after a thrilling Brazilian Grand Prix in Sao Paulo.
The nail-biting finale to another stellar F1 season, Vettel came back from last at one point to finish sixth, and secure his third consecutive title by three points. His rival Fernando Alonso of Ferrari finished second, and needed Vettel to finish lower than seventh in order to win his own third driver's championship.
Fans from his home town of Heppenheim revelled in watching the 25 year old become the youngest driver in history to win three world titles.
"Unbelievable! He did an excellent job. He was restrained when it counted, he held his position as was necessary. It was sensational. Despite him being shoved off, it was sensational. Awesome race, Sebastian. Congratulations on winning the world champion title"
"Wicked race! Wicked race! Super! We always knew that Vettel is a super driver in the rain. It was very tight at the end, well, nobody knew that ahead. But it was enough. And now we hit the acceleration pedal and party"
Jenson Button of Mclaren won the race to finish fifth in the overall standings. Just above him in fourth is Lewis Hamilton, who had led the race until lap 54, when he was hit by Force India's Nico Hukenberg. Red Bull won the Constructors championship on 460 points, ahead of Ferrari and Mclaren.
