Spike Lee Goes Viral After Getting Involved in Wild Fan Altercation at Yankee Stadium
Lee and his representatives have yet to address the issue

Spike Lee was involved in a heated confrontation with a fan before the New York Yankees faced the Boston Red Sox in Game 2 of their American League Wild Card Series at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday night.
The 69-year-old filmmaker was in the Legends Suite dining area when the incident occurred. According to the New York Post, Lee arrived at about 6:30pm and initially appeared relaxed, taking selfies with fans and leaving space at his table for others to join him.
The situation changed after one person reportedly asked Lee to say 'F*** Palestine' while requesting a photograph.
Lee became angry and stood up, prompting staff to intervene as he attempted to confront the individual. Footage from the incident showed the director being restrained by people around him.
'Why'd you come over to me?' Lee shouted at an unidentified person while being held back.
The individual who allegedly made the remark was subsequently removed from the Legends Suite area. A man in a blue sport jacket was also heard telling someone nearby: 'You've gotta go. You've gotta go.'
A source described the person involved as 'absolutely wrong' and said the incident 'ruined our f****** meal'.
Representatives for Lee and the Yankees did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Lee Was Attending Another Yankees-Red Sox Clash
The confrontation occurred before the Yankees hosted Boston in the second game of the best-of-three Wild Card Series.
New York entered Game 2 with a 1-0 lead after a dominant 9-0 victory over Boston in the opener on Tuesday. Rookie Cam Schlittler struck out 10 batters over 6⅓ innings, while Ben Rice hit two home runs, including a grand slam, and drove in six runs.
Lee had also attended Game 1, sitting behind the Yankees' dugout alongside his daughter, Satchel. He posted a photograph from the stadium on social media.
The Yankees and Red Sox were meeting in the Wild Card round for the second consecutive season. The three-game series was being played entirely in New York, with the Yankees holding home-field advantage.
Game 2 was scheduled for 8pm Eastern Time on Wednesday, with Max Fried starting for New York against Boston's Sonny Gray. The Yankees ultimately completed the sweep with a 9-2 victory, advancing to the American League Division Series.
Spike Lee's Long Connection With New York Sport
The incident added an unexpected moment to another appearance by one of New York's most recognisable sports fans. Lee, best known for films including Do the Right Thing, Malcolm X and BlacKkKlansman, has been a familiar presence at New York sporting events for decades.
He is particularly associated with the New York Knicks, having regularly attended games and travelled with the team during its recent championship campaign.
His courtside appearances have occasionally made headlines because of his passionate reactions and exchanges with opposing players and fans.
Lee has also maintained a long association with the Yankees and frequently attends games at Yankee Stadium. His appearance at the 2026 Wild Card Series therefore came as little surprise.
The pre-game confrontation, however, turned an otherwise routine visit into an unexpected moment before one of baseball's most closely watched rivalries.
