Straight Outta Compton
The Straight Outta Compton sequel will focus on Suge Knight's Death Row Records label Universal

The Straight Outta Compton sequel appears to be steamrolling ahead with a photo confirming the new cast members. Following the incredibly successful N.W.A. biopic, the second installment will focus on the iconic Death Row Records with the lives and careers of Suge Knight and Snoop Dogg put under the spotlight.

Photos published by TMZ show the actors and the characters they will be playing in the sequel with Azad Arnaud set to portray rapper Daz Dillinger, Reggie Noble playing Death Row boss Knight, DaDa as Tupac Shakur and The Wire actor Melvin Jackson Jr as Kurupt.

One of the photos also shows the real life Lady Of Rage as well as Dr Dre's son Curtis Young, who will play his father, taking over from Corey Hawkins who played the hip hop mogul in the first movie. According to the website, the cast were brought together at a recording studio in Los Angeles to film a scene where Knight, Tupac and Dillinger record Ambitionz Az A Ridah I Ain't Mad At Cha during a 24-hour period.

News of the Straight Outta Compton sequel surfaced in August with reports claiming Dr Dre and Ice Cube, who was executive producer for the first installment, will not be involved with the second movie. Straight Outta Compton followed the rise, triumphs and tribulations of legendary rap group N.W.A., and their members; Cube, Dre, Eazy-E, DJ Yella and MC Ren. The movie proved to be a huge success around the world grossing $60.2m (£39.1m) at the US box-office during its opening weekend and a further £2.49m ($3.82m) in the UK.

However, the release was mired in controversy with three women coming forward to claim they were beaten by Dr Dre during N.W.A.'s heyday. The businessman was then forced to apologise for his actions, stating he had been "drinking too much and in over my head with no real structure in my life".
