Overview

Chennai Super Kings are currently top of Group B with eight points whileTrinidad and Tobago, Sunrisers and Titans are all tied on four points. Both teams have a viable chance of making it to the semi-finals and a win here for either will go a long way in deciding their future in the tournament.

The Sunrisers have won only one game so far, which was against Trinidad and Tobago in the opening game of the Group B fixtures this season. The IPL club restricted Trinidad to a score of 160 and chased down the total with three balls to spare. Thisara Parera was adjudged the man of the match for his performance in all facets of the field, taking two wickets while also contributing an unbeaten 57 with the bat.

Shikhar Dhawan's side failed to keep up the momentum in their next game, losing to Chennai Super Kings while chasing a mammoth total of 202. They lost the game by 12 runs but gave a good account of themselves with the bat, something which may prove beneficial against the South African franchise.

The Titans lost their first game in the Champions Trophy to Chennai where they failed to defend a total of 185. AB de Villiers scored a magnificent 77 of only 36 balls to set the game on a platter for his side but their bowlers failed to live up to the mark and the IPL runner-ups won the game with seven balls to spare.

The next game against Brisbane Heat saw the bowlers put up a great performance while their batsmen failed to put up the score on the board. The Titans succumbed to a score of 123 while batting first but their bowlers were too good for an injury-stricken Heats side, who fell short by four runs. The South Africans have to put in a concerted effort with both the ball and the bat if they have to have any chance of making it to the semi-finals this time around.
