Supernatural season 13
Sam and Dean will crossover with Scooby-Doo in Supernatural season 13 Warner Bros/ The CW

Sam and Dean Winchester will go on adventures with the Scooby-Doo gang? Yes, you have heard it right. The Winchester brothers will team up alongside Shaggy, Fred, Scooby, Velma, and Daphne in an animated crossover in Supernatural season 13.

According to Entertainment Weekly, actor Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, who play Dean and Sam respectively on the show, made the announcement at The CW's annual Upfront presentation and teased a "colorful" episode that will take place in the "fully animated world of Scooby-Doo."

There is no information on when the episode will air, as the fall premiere episodes will have to deal with the major fallout from season 12 finale. Supernatural aired its devastating season 12 finale on 18 May, which featured the deaths of 4 major characters.

Firstly, Rowena was killed by Lucifer, and up next was the King Of Hell. After discovering a rift to an alternate Earth, Sam, Dean, Castiel, and Crowley devised a plan to trap Lucifer in the alternate reality world, but things went downhill from there.

Crowley made the ultimate sacrifice to save the world and killed himself to complete a spell which will trap the devil in an alternate reality. However, Lucifer emerged from the rift only to put a blade through Castiel, as Dean and Sam watched their best friend perish before them.

Mary then used her Enochian Brass Knuckles, to knock Lucifer through a rift into an alternate reality, and found herself sucked into the breach and is now trapped on the alternate Earth with the Devil. The final moments also saw Sam discovering Kelly Kline's lifeless body as the Nephilim aka Lucifer's newborn baby had already become a full grown boy with yellow eyes.

It is safe to assume that season 13 may feature some reality-bending, alternate universe-jumping plotlines, including a Scooby-Doo universe, as the brothers attempt to find and rescue their mother, and hopefully find a way to resurrect Castiel and Crowley, too.
