Tesco shoppers can get 8p off a litre of petrol or diesel after spending £60 or more in one qualifying in-store transaction, but they have only until 18 October 2026 to earn the coupon.

The Tesco fuel offer began on 1 October and gives qualifying customers a paper coupon at the till. They must use it by Sunday 25 October at a participating Tesco petrol station. A Clubcard is not needed, and Tesco caps the saving at £8 per fuel purchase, according to an InYourArea report.

Why a £60 Shop May Not Qualify

However, the catch is that the £60 qualifying spend must be made in one in-store transaction. Tesco calculates eligibility after applying discounts, promotions, and coupons. Several products and services also do not count.

For example, a basket totalling £62 before a £5 discount would leave only £57 of qualifying spend, provided every item otherwise qualified. Splitting a £60 shop into two transactions will not earn a coupon either.

Lottery products, e-top-ups, savings stamps, postage stamps, carrier bags, prescription medicines and infant milk formulae are excluded. So are purchases from cafés, tobacco kiosks, opticians, phone stores, concessions, Travel Money and Tesco Bank.

Online grocery orders and Whoosh purchases also fall outside the Tesco fuel offer. Shoppers whose total is close to £60 should check both the final discounted amount and the basket contents before expecting a coupon at checkout.

A Paper Voucher and a Petrol-Station Kiosk

The retail giant requires shoppers to present the physical coupon at a petrol station kiosk when paying for fuel. Shoppers cannot redeem the Tesco petrol voucher through Pay at Pump or at an unmanned station, and they may use only one coupon per transaction.

The qualifying shop must take place by Sunday 18 October, while Sunday 25 October is the last day to use the coupon. That gives shoppers who earn a voucher on the final shopping day a week to redeem it.

The coupon can be used at participating Tesco petrol stations in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The Isle of Man is excluded, as are Tesco Express stores that sell Esso fuel and unmanned petrol stations. Drivers can use Tesco's store locator to find a participating filling station, but should check that it offers kiosk payment before travelling.

Money Saving Expert says drivers must spend more than £1 on fuel to use the voucher. Meanwhile, Tesco's published terms refer to a minimum fuel purchase but do not state the amount. The coupon must be handed over in the same transaction as the fuel purchase.

The £8 Maximum Is Reached at 100 Litres

At 8p per litre, a 35-litre fill reduces the bill by £2.80, while 45 litres saves £3.60. Those are the quantities Money Saving Expert uses to illustrate a typical fill; the exact reduction follows the litres dispensed.

A 40-litre fill saves £3.20, a 50-litre fill saves £4 and a 60-litre fill saves £4.80. The full £8 saving is reached at 100 litres in one transaction. Buying more than 100 litres with the same voucher does not increase the discount.

Money Saving Expert notes that August's version of the promotion allowed a maximum saving of £10. The October cap is £2 lower, even though the per-litre discount remains 8p.

The advertised saving also needs to be weighed against local pump prices. If another station charges 10p less per litre than Tesco before the coupon, an 8p reduction would still leave Tesco 2p per litre dearer. Comparing the final per-litre prices can show whether the Tesco petrol voucher actually makes it the cheaper option.

Diesel Prices Put the Savings in Context

The Tesco fuel offer comes as fuel bills are rising. On 2 October, the RAC said the average UK diesel price had reached 200.01p per litre, above the previous record of 199.09p set in June 2022. Its reported petrol average was 174.71p per litre.

The RAC said a 55-litre tank would cost £110.01 for diesel and £96.09 for petrol at those average prices. Actual forecourt prices vary, so the coupon's value is best measured against what nearby stations charge when the driver fills up.
