The hunt for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie, the popular Today show host, abducted from her Arizona home, has taken a dramatic turn.

US President Donald Trump has announced that his administration is deploying all available federal law enforcement agencies to assist in locating Nancy Guthrie.

'I spoke with Savannah Guthrie, and let her know that I am directing ALL Federal Law Enforcement to be at the family's, and Local Law Enforcement's, complete disposal, IMMEDIATELY,' the President wrote on Truth Social.

'We are deploying all resources to get her mother home safely. The prayers of our Nation are with her and her family,' he added.

Trump's pledge to mobilise resources signals an escalation in efforts. The case has also impacted Savannah Guthrie's professional commitments.

She has been absent from her hosting duties on the Today show and has declined to participate in NBC Sports coverage of the upcoming Winter Olympics.

A family's heartbreak and urgent plea

Nancy Guthrie disappeared last Saturday night from her quiet residence in the Catalina Foothills, a neighbourhood near Tucson.

Savannah has called for transparency from the kidnappers. She and her siblings have released a video on Instagram, urging the captors to show proof of Nancy's wellbeing.

They are willing to negotiate but only if they can confirm Nancy is alive.

'We, too, have heard reports about a ransom letter in the media. As a family, we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk,' Savannah said.

'However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know, without a doubt, that she is alive and that you have her,' she continued.

The family's message is clear: they will do whatever it takes to bring Nancy home, but they need proof she is still with us.

'She is 84 years old. Her health, her heart is fragile. She lives in constant pain. She is without any medicine. She needs it to survive. She needs it not to suffer,' Savannah added.

Mysterious ransom notes and a growing investigation

Multiple news outlets have reported a ransom note demanding millions in Bitcoin for Nancy's safe return.

TMZ and KGUN 9, an Arizona station, say they received copies of the letter, which contains details only Nancy's kidnapper would know. Yet, police remain cautious. They have not confirmed the authenticity of these notes.

Sheriff Chris Nanos of Pima County confirms that authorities are taking the leads seriously. Hundreds of tips have flooded in, some pointing to possible sightings or suspects. The ransom demand, if genuine, indicates a calculated effort to coerce the family.

The nature of Nancy's disappearance adds a layer of complexity. She is described as limited in mobility but of sound mind.

Her sudden absence raises questions about whether this was a targeted abduction or something more sinister. Local residents held vigils, praying for her safe return, their hopes intertwined with growing anxiety.

Collective hope for a safe return

The Tucson community has rallied around the Guthrie family.

A vigil was held last night, with hundreds gathering in quiet prayer. Strangers have offered support online, sharing messages of solidarity and encouragement.

Meanwhile, experts warn about the flood of tips.

CNN Senior Correspondent Josh Campbell suggests that high-profile disappearances often attract both genuine leads and malicious or sinister ones. The sheer volume of information can sometimes hinder police rather than help.

The authorities continue to sift through the leads, trying to separate fact from fiction. The case's high-profile nature means every detail, every tip, is scrutinised intensely. The public remains engaged, hoping for a breakthrough.
