The official synopsis reads as follows:

Picking up where last season's cliffhanger left off, "Gone Girl" begins with the bride-to-be in the arms of another man. Having confessed their true feelings, Joss and Harry are making out on the beach when Karen calls with bad news and Joss races to be with Scott. Meanwhile, April invites her half-brother Scotty and his mother to town and they arrive with Uncle Marc in tow. Karen makes a return visit to her doctor, Alec and the results of her blood test are about to change her life in a very dramatic way. Fashion designer Calista Raines arrives on the scene determined to get what she wants

The season 2 finale ended with Joss (Jes Macallan) and Harry (Brett Tucker) giving in to their long-simmering passion just as Savi (Alyssa Milano) is about to bust her ex-husband and her younger sister in a mid-makeout session.

The title Gone Girl refers to the fact that Alyssa Milano's character Savi will be leaving the series. Milano is expected to appear in the season 3 premiere to enable Savi to gracefully exit the show.

Executive producers KJ Steinberg and Rina Mimoun dished on Milano's departure and the Joss/Harry betrayal at the end of season 2.

Mimoun told Yahoo TV, "We do not shy away from the sister betrayal, and it's a huge part of the two-hour premiere. We expect some anger, but also know there are some not-so-secret Joss/Harry shippers out there who've been waiting for this from Season 1."

The producer also dished on Alyssa Milano quitting the show and how her departure will affect the show.

Steinberg said, "For Joss, the lack of a sister who meant so much to her leaves a big hole in her heart and in her life for someone to step in, and that is Calista Raines, played by Jennifer Esposito."

She said, "I think that Joss's vulnerability at this time makes it much easier for she and Calista to have an intimacy and a dynamic relationship that maybe she wouldn't have had if Savi was around. So, in a way, it allows us to tell more stories, new and exciting stories."

We will have to wait to see how Alyssa Milano's character exits the series when the show premieres on ABC.
