Fallout 3

Fans have now taken to social media to speculate whether Bethesda is planning to launch Fallout 4 at the Gamescom gaming convention in August.

Bethesda Softworks is included in the convention's event listings. The listing says the company plans make an 'action-adventure & RPG'-related announcement.

Since Bethesda Softworks was the publisher behind the Fallout 3 series, some fans believe that a Fallout 4 announcement is imminent. However, we expect Bethesda will reveal a new addition to Elder Scrolls Online: perhaps a next-gen update for the MMO.

Others speculate that the publisher might take the opportunity to show off its Doom 4 game, which is expected to go into beta later this year.

It has been over four years since Bethesda rolled out a Fallout game, so now could be a great time for a new entry into the beloved franchise.

Gamescom runs from 13-17 August in Cologne, Germany. If there are specific titles that you're expecting from Bethesda this year, let us know about it in the comments below.

Bethesda's Wolfenstein: The New Order, which came out in May this year, has received extremely positive reviews, and has been described as 'essential' game for lovers of the FPS genre.
