She had everyone whipping their hair back and forth last year, but now it seems that Willow Smith is trying something different after chopping off her locks.

The 11-year-old starlet and daughter of Hollywood actor Will Smith followed in the footsteps of Amber Rose and Natalie Portman and was bold about being bald.

Willow, obviously very proud of the results, quickly shared her new hairdo with fans by posting pictures on the internet.

While she was at it the pint-sized trendsetter also decided to show off her love of ballet by posting pictures of her golden ballet shows and her posing in a dance studio on WhoSay, a social network service for VIPs and celebrities.

Fans went crazy when Willow's fellow Roc Nation signing Rihanna debuted her vibrant red locks, but will the youngsters' supporters follow suit?

Over the years many women celebrities have shocked their fans by going bald - for a movie role, because of illness or simply for a fresh start.

Britney Spears famously cut off her blonde locks during a very famous public breakdown and Cynthia Nixon recently went bald to play a cancer-stricken patient in stage show Wit.

Whatever the reason, it is safe to say that while some stars pulled off the edgy look others left much to be desired. We have a look at a few of the bald hits and misses.
