Top WWE superstars squared off in the latest episode of SmackDown Live just days ahead of the upcoming Survivor Series pay-per-view (PPV). The event, which was aired from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, saw The Miz challenging champion Dolph Ziggler for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, while in another featured match Nikki Bella faced Carmella.

Edge also returned for The Cutting Edge show. He asked Randy Orton – who was in the ring with AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Shane McMahon and James Ellsworth – as to why he joined the Wyatt Family. Bray said the old Viper was dead and a much more dangerous Orton will be revealed at Survivor Series, which is scheduled to take place at the Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada on 20 November.

When McMahon said SmackDown Live's superstars have to work as a team at Survivor Series, Styles made it clear he was not happy with Ambrose, who he has been teamed up with alongside Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt and Baron Corbin in a 5–on–5 Traditional Men's elimination against Team Raw.

Next, The Undertaker stepped in the ring and had a stare down with SmackDown Live commissioner McMahon. The Undertaker then warned the blue brand's superstars that if they failed at Survivor Series he would be there to punish them.
