Sony's newly announced large-screen smartphone, the Xperia Z Ultra, is now up for pre-order in the UK.

Online retailer, Clove UK, is now taking pre-orders for the Xperia Z Ultra featuring a 6.4in screen, which is the company's first smartphone to incorporate full HD TRILUMINOUS display for mobiles powered by the latest X-Reality for mobile picture engine.

As the product page suggests, the 16GB variant of Xperia Z Ultra with model number C6833 is priced at £599.99 including VAT. The offer includes a Sony Bluetooth Headset SBH20. The retailer notes that only the black and white model of Xperia Z Ultra is currently available.

The retailer does not mention a definite release date but promises that the first stock of the device is expected by September.

Previously, Carphone Warehouse confirmed that it would be stocking Sony's new smartphone. Three UK has also announced that it will be selling the handset and requested potential buyers to register for further update on its site. Other retailers are yet to reveal their price deals.

The Xperia Z, with an IP code rating of IP55 and IP58, is waterproof and resistant to dust. It will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of box. It is equipped with Snapdragon 800 chip featuring a quad-core Krait 400 processing unit, with each core running at clock speeds up to 2.2GHz, and paired with Adreno 330 graphics unit. The Snapdragon 800 chip integrates 2GB of RAM.

The device has an eight megapixel primary camera with Exmor RS for mobile image sensor, which is Sony's image sensor technology with a next-gen BSI (Backside illumination) light sensor. The rear-camera also supports HDR (High Dynamic Range) for photos and videos. The handset has a two megapixel front-facing camera. Both front and rear cameras can record 1080p video at 30fps.

The Xperia Z Ultra is Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled and supports 4G LTE network speeds.
