The 100 season 3 premiere: Writer teases 'impossible choices' for Bellamy, feud with Octavia

The 100 season 3 will find its favorite siblings, Bellamy and Octavia Blake, at odds with each other. Even as the two have been through difficult times in season 2, they have always stood by each other. But the latest trailer of the upcoming season shows the brother-sister fighting against each other.

Bellamy would make a controversial decision – likely against the Grounders – which would turn his sister against him. The show's writer, Shawna Benson spoke of one of the scenes in the trailer where Octavia is seen punching her brother so hard that he starts to bleed. She then tells him, "You are dead to me."

Answering to a fan regarding the feud between the siblings she wrote on Tumblr: "Well, based on the trailer, you are very right to be worried. Octavia punching Bellamy? What on earth could that be about?"

She further explained that Bellamy's decision will be driven by his need to protect his people aka the Sky People. She wrote, "You are also right that Bellamy truly believes he's doing what he needs to do to protect his people. So any decisions he makes will be rooted in that belief. The question isn't whether he means well but if he's making the right decisions in how best to protect."

Speaking about Bellamy's choice, the writer admitted that all his options are usually bad. "The show is always trying to put characters in positions of near impossible choices – usually all the options are bad. The question is which are worse. Also, it's fair to say that very often our characters aren't working with all the information they really need to make their decisions," she stressed.

However, the writer add that fans would soon find out whether Bellamy made the right decision. "As for Bellamy's choices in Season 3, we'll soon learn not if he's right or wrong, but if he chooses the best option available to him at the time."

The show has not been as conventional in terms of decision-making by characters. In the season 2 finale, Clarke (Eliza Taylor) and Bellamy (Bob Morley) used radiation to massacre Mountain Men, including Maya to save the Sky People.
