What do you do when you meet the President of the United States and the First Lady? Start dancing of course... so what if you are more than a century old! That's what 106-year-old Virginia McLaurin ended up doing when she finally came face to face with Barack and Michelle Obama.

The centenarian waited more than a year to get invited to the White House following a 2014 petition. A social media campaign backed her hopes and finally on 21 February McLaurin's wish was fulfilled.

She was so excited to meet the Obamas that she started to break into some moves while holding hands with them. Charged with excitement, she said she was very happy to meet the first US black president and his black wife, all the while continuing to hold their hands. "I thought I'd never live to get in the White House. I'm here to celebrate black history," the 1909-born woman added.

The meeting was organised by the White House as part of the Black History Month celebrations during which influential African Americans of the past and present are remembered.

In her 2014 YouTube request to Obama she said: "I didn't think I'd live to see a coloured president. I'm so happy, I'll pray for you every day of my life."
