Psychic medium Matt Fraser has warned visitors against provoking Annabelle, the allegedly haunted Raggedy Ann doll associated with paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, saying such attention could allegedly feed negative energy.

Fraser's warning comes as the allegedly haunted doll is displayed at comedian and actor Matt Rife's newly opened Haunted Warren Museum in Salem, Massachusetts, where visitors can see the object associated with paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.

'Evil energy loves attention,' Fraser said, arguing that fear, curiosity, scepticism, and attempts to provoke a reaction could give alleged negative energy more attention.

Annabelle's Rise as a Paranormal Icon

Annabelle is one of the most recognisable objects associated with the Warren collection. According to accounts of the case, Ed and Lorraine Warren investigated the doll in the 1970s after two nurses reported unusual incidents involving it.

The Warrens concluded that the doll was not possessed by the spirit of a child, as the nurses had believed, but was instead allegedly associated with an inhuman entity. The story later became part of popular culture through The Conjuring franchise and the Annabelle films, transforming the doll from a reported paranormal case into a globally recognised horror icon.

Fraser's Warning About Public Attention

Fraser's concern centres on how visitors behave around allegedly haunted objects. He said people could arrive wanting to photograph Annabelle, ask for a sign, challenge the legend, or deliberately attempt to trigger a reaction.

'Do not challenge Annabelle. Do not ask for a sign. Do not speak directly to these entities,' Fraser advised. He also said he would not visit the doll himself, arguing that visitors should treat allegedly paranormal objects with caution rather than turning the experience into a test of courage.

Fraser's comments reflect his personal beliefs and experiences as a medium. There is no established scientific evidence that Annabelle possesses supernatural powers or that visitors can become spiritually affected by viewing the doll.

Rife and paranormal content creator Elton Castee acquired the Warren property and collection in 2025 and became associated with objects previously housed at the Warrens' former museum in Monroe, Connecticut. The new Haunted Warren Museum is located at 259 Essex Street in Salem, a city already closely associated with witchcraft history and Halloween tourism.

The attraction combines paranormal objects with exhibits covering occult history, true crime, and allegedly haunted artefacts. Rife has also promoted $100 flashlight tours at the museum. The Salem attraction gives the Warren collection a new commercial setting, bringing objects that were once associated with a private paranormal museum into a visitor experience.

The Evidence Behind Annabelle's Legend

Stories surrounding Annabelle include claims that the doll moved independently, produced messages, and was connected to accidents involving people who allegedly provoked it. Those accounts originate largely from the Warrens and subsequent retellings of their investigations. They have not been independently established as evidence of supernatural activity.

The legend received renewed attention after paranormal investigator Dan Rivera died in July 2025 while touring with Annabelle. Online speculation linked Rivera's death to the doll, but authorities reported that Rivera died from natural causes and that nothing unusual or suspicious was observed at the scene.

That has not stopped Annabelle from remaining a major figure in paranormal culture, particularly as the doll is now accessible to visitors at a dedicated attraction. The controversy surrounding the museum ultimately rests on the divide between belief and evidence. For paranormal enthusiasts, Annabelle remains an object of fascination.
