Much before Apple launched its next-gen iPad on March 7, Samsung launched another version of its Galaxy tab 2 series, 10.1 on Feb 26. The Korean tech giant's tablet will be one of the first to run on the Android 4.0 operating system and TouchWiz combination.

How do the New iPad and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 compare? Take a look

Display- The new iPad features a 9.7-inch LED-backlit glossy widescreen multi-touch, high resolution retina display along with In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology. The resolution of the display is 2048x1536 pixels. The display moreover features fingerprint-resistance oleophobic coating.

The Galaxy Tab 2 features 10.1-inch WXGA, PLS (Super Line to Plane Switching) TFT display with a resolution of 1200x800 pixels.

Camera - The new iPad has a 5-megapixels iSight camera with autofocus, tap to focus and face detection in still images. It can record videos in HD 1080p up to 30 frames per second with audio. It includes a Face Time camera with VGA-quality photosand video at up to 30 frames per second.

Tab 2 sports a 3 megapixels camera at the rear-end and a front-facing VGA camera for video call. The camera moreover can record video in full HD up to 30 frames per second.

Operating System- The new iPad will run with iOS 5.1. A redesigned Camera app with video stabilisation technology, the ability to delete photos from Photo Stream, support for dictation in English, French, German and Japanese and Personal Hotspot are few of the key enhancement features of the iPad.

On the other hand, Tab 2 runs with the current version of Google's operating system - Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Wireless and Carriers- The new iPad comes in to models Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi+4G. The new iPad offers Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n) and Bluetooth version 4.0. The Wi-Fi+4G model will run on both the carrier AT&T and Verizon and offers Long Term Evaluation (LTE) connectivity.

Samsung Tab 2 also offers 3G connectivity. It can be connected to the internet through Bluetooth version 3.0, USB 2.0 Host, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Wi-Fi Direct.

Dimension and Weight- The iPad Wi-Fi model measures 241.2x185.7x9.4mm in thickness and it weighs 652g (1.44 pounds). And the dimension of Wi-Fi+4G iPad model is 241.2x185.7x9.4mm and weighs 662g (1.46 pounds).

In contrast, the Tab 2 10.1 measures 256.6 x175.3 x 9.7 mm and it weighs 588g.

Battery Life - Both the Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi+4G new iPad models feature a built-in 42.5 watt-hour rechargeable lithium-polymer battery which can run up to 10 hours. The battery charges through power adapter and also over USB on computer.

The Tab 2 has a standard Li-ion battery with a capacity of 7,000mAh.

Processor- The new iPad is powered by dual-core Apple A5X custom-designed chip with a quad-core graphics while Tab 2 is powered by 1 GHz dual-core processor.

Storage - The new iPad Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi+4G models come in 16GB, 32GB and 64 GB version.

The internal memory storage of Tab 2 provides 16 and 32GB options. The memory is expandable up to 32GB using microSD card. The tab contains a 1GB of RAM.
